If you’ve ever experienced a dental emergency, you understand that they can be stressful. But if you understand what you should do during an emergency, you will be able to reduce the amount of stress you experience. With this in mind, do you know what you should do if a filling falls out?

You could lose a filling for a number of reasons. For example, did you know that biting down too hard could dislodge your filling? Older fillings may be more likely to fall out, while a newer filling will typically be stronger. But if you care for your teeth well, your fillings may last longer.

Would you be surprised to learn that chewing gum could actually help you deal with a lost filling? Losing a filling can be a painful experience, but placing chewing gum in the cavity can help. Please use sugar-free gum, though, as gum with sugar could cause more discomfort. You can also use painkillers to help you deal with your discomfort or dental cement to temporarily hold your filling in place. You should also pay our dentist a visit as soon as possible.
